Viviana Durante

Born in Rome in 1967, she trained at the Rome Opera Ballet School until the age of 12 and then, spotted by Anglo-Russian Ballerina Galina Samsova, she attended the Royal Ballet School in London. She joined the Royal Ballet Company in 1984 and she was made a Principal Dancer by sir Anthony Dowell in 1989. She danced leading roles in the classical repertoire and also in ballets by famous British choreographers F. Ashton and K. MacMillan. She left the Royal Ballet in 2001 to became a free-lance, guesting for American Ballet Theatre in New York, La Scala Ballet in Milan and K-Ballet in Japan.
