Stacey Shiori Minagawa

Ms. Minagawa joined The National Ballet of Canada as an apprentice in 1993, and became a member of the corps de ballet in 1995. She was promoted to Second Soloist in August 1998 and to First Soloist in August 2000.
Ms. Minagawa has danced the title role in Ben Stevenson’s Cinderella, Lise in La Fille mal gardee, Princess Florine in The Sleeping Beauty , Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker, the Italian and Hungarian Princesses in Swan Lake, Tatania in The Dream, Mercedes in Don Quixote, Princess Vasilisa in The Firebird, Valencienne in The Merry Widow, Olga in Onegin, Polyhymnia in Apollo, Cio Cio San in Madame Butterfly, Virginia in An Italian Straw Hat, the principal woman in Rubies in George Balanchine’s Jewels, the lead role of both Summer and Spring in The Four Seasons and the lead role in The Red Shoes on the Karen Kain Farewell Tour.
Ms. Minagawa created the role of Blossom in James Kudelka’s Cinderella (2004), as well as roles in Jean-Pierre Perreaults The Comforts of Solitude (2001), Matjash Mrozewskis A Delicate Battle (2001) and Kudelkas A Disembodied Voice (1999). She has also danced in the company premieres of Kudelka’s Desir (1998), A Fairy’s Kiss (1998) and Terra Firma (1997).
