Gelsey Kirkland

Born in Pennsylvania, 1952.
She studied at the School of American Ballet and joined the New York City Ballet in 1968. She was promoted to soloist in 1969 and to principal in 1972.
In 1974 Ms Kirkland joined American Ballet Theatre, where she danced with Mikhail Baryshnikov and Rudolf Nureyev. Between 1980 and 1986 Ms Kirkland was a guest artist with the Royal Ballet.
