Fabio Grossi

Fabio Grossi is one of the leading dancer of the Rome Opera Ballet and a partner of world-famous Italian Ballerina Carla Fracci.
Born in Rome, he trained at the Accademia Nazionale di Danza (Italy). He also studied with M. Besobrasova in Monte-Carlo, R. Hightower in Cannes, R. Franchetti in Marseilles and W. Burmann in New York.
In 1997 he was a First Prize Winner at the Rieti Competition (Italy) and a Finalist at the Moscow International Competition (Russia) directed by Y. Grigorovich. He won the Léonide Massine Award in Positano (Italy).
In 1998 he made his début with Aterballetto (Italy), then he worked with the Ballet du Grand Théatre de Genève, the Leipziger Ballett, the Teatro alla Scala in Milan and the Ballet National de Marseilles. He performed leading roles in ballets by G. Balanchine, J. Kylian, W. Forsythe, U. Scholz, O. Naharin, R. North, A. Amodio, M.C. Pietragalla and M. Bigonzetti.
In 2003 he joined the Rome Opera Ballet, performing as partner of Italian Ballerina Carla Fracci in creations by B. Menegatti and L. Bouy.
As a Principal Dancer, Grossi’s repertoire includes nearly all the major classical, neoclassical and romantic roles in the most famous ballets such as “Giselle”, “Swan Lake”, “The Nutcracker”, “The Sleeping Beauty”, M. Fokine’s “Les Sylphides” and “Petrushka”, L. Massine’s “Pulcinella”, G. Balanchine’s “La Chatte” and “The Ball”.
At the Rome Opera House, many principal roles in new contemporary works have been made especially for him.
He danced at A. Alonso’s 19 International Festival in Cuba, with C. Fracci and the Soloists of the Rome Opera Ballet, and he partnered young Cuban Ballerina S. Arencibia in G. Samsova’s production of “Swan Lake” for her Italian début.
Fabio Grossi is regarded with appreciation as one of the most talented Italian dancers of the young generation.
