Erin Barnard
EditErin Christy Barnard returns to BalletMet for her fourth season. After completing high school in three years in South Carolina, she graduated from Houston Ballet Academy’s professional school under the direction of Ben Stevenson and went on to dance with Ballet Austin for four seasons. Ms. Barnard has toured nationally and internationally, including to the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., with Ballet Austin and on an extensive tour of China under the direction of David Wilcox and Mark Bush. She was a guest and choreographer for the Austin Dance Ensemble in 2000 and 2001, and participated in the 2004 Columbus Choreography Project. She has enjoyed dancing the role of the Black Swan in David Nixon’s Swan Lake, the Sugar Plum Fairy in Gerard Charles’ The Nutcracker, and the Firebird in Stanton Welch’s Firebird. Her favorites have been the pas de deux in Carmina Burana, Raymonda and The Man I Love, all with Derek Sakakura.
