She began her dance training at the age of nine, and at age twelve moved to Madrid to study with Victor Ullate.Three years later she moved to Monte Carlo to study at the Academie of Dance Princess Grace, and four years later came to the United States and studied at The School of American Ballet. Her renowned teachers include Marika Besobrasova, Stanley Williams, Suki Schorer and Truman Finney. <br /> Ms. Ochoa spent three years at Hartford Ballet before joining Pennsylvania Ballet in 1996 as a member of the Corps de Ballet. She was promoted to Soloist in 1999 and to Principal in August 2001. Many of her notable roles include Katherina in John Cranko’s The Taming of the Shrew, Titania in Midsummer Night’s Dream, Lilac Fairy in The Sleeping Beauty, Calliope in Apollo, Dark Angel in Serenade, the Pas De Duex in Agon, and the leads in Bugaku and Carmina Burana. She has also appeared in featured roles in George Balanchine’s Western Symphony, Monumentum pro Gesualdo, Movements for Piano and Orchestra, Concerto Barocco, Slaughter on Tenth Avenue, Who Cares?, and Divertimento 15 as well as Agnes de Mille’s Rodeo, Peter Martins’ Fearful Symmetries and Alvin Ailey’s The River. She has also performed all of the featured roles in George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker including Sugar Plum Fairy, Dewdrop and Coffee. <br /> Ms. Ochoa has also had several roles created on her for new ballets such as Kevin O’ Day’s Col Legno, Trey McIntyre’s Cantilena and Plush, and Jeffrey Gribler’s Songs Without Words. <br /> Ms. Ochoa has made guest appearances with the Chicago Ballet and performed in the Sante Fe Festival, as well as with the Stars of the New York Ballet in London.
