A native of Brookline, Massachusetts , Erika Lambe -Holland is the granddaughter of famed Tenor Roland Hayes, who opened the doors of Classical Music to African Americans. Ms. Lambe-Holland trained at the Boston Ballet School, the School of American Ballet and the Dance Theatre of Harlem school. She performed with Boston Ballet II before joining Dance Theatre of Harlem where she danced for three years. She toured with Dance Theatre of Harlem to Moscow, Tbilisi and St. Petersburg. She also performed in London, France, Denmark and Scotland. She appeared in television productions of Dance Theatre of Harlems Creole Giselle and Agnes De Milles Fall River Legend .She performed principal roles in Arthur Mitchells Holberg Suite and Nijinskas Les Biches. She performed in the Carlisle Project in the summer of 1991.As a member of Miami City Ballet, she was featured in Paul Taylors Three Epitaphs, Balanchines Concerto Borocco, Raymonda Variations, Divertimento no.15, Diamonds, Who cares? Bournonvilles Flower Festival pas de Deux, as well as other big roles in Swan Lake, and The Nutcracker.
She was a featured dancer in the 1999 PBS production, Ill Make Me a World , which chronicled the careers of African Americans in the Arts.
Ms. Lambe-Holland joined Boston Ballet as a member of the corps de ballet in 1993. She has since performed in Balanchines Ballo de la Regina, Capriccio for Piano and Orchestra, The Four Temperaments, Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto no.2 , Serenade ,Slaughter on 10th Avenue, Theme and Variations, Symphony in C, Who Cares?
She has danced in Laszlo Berdos World premier of Four Hands. Other Ballets in her repertoire include, VII for VIII, Giselle, the Sleeping Beauty, La Bayadere, Raymonda, Paquita, Le Corsaire, Don Quixote, Abdallah, A Midsummer Nights Dream, Ben Stevensons productions of Dracula and Cleopatra, John Crankos Eugene Onegin, and Taming of the Shrew,. Paul Taylors Company B The World Premier of Spencer/Coltons Before Ever After. The World Premiers of Lyla Yorks, Celts, and Ode to joy. Christopher Wheeldons, premiers of Corybantic Ecstacies and the Firebird. Rudi Van Danzigs Ginastera and Romeo and Juliet, . In 2000, Lambe-Holland became the first African American Sugarplum Fairy in Boston Ballets production of The Nutcracker. She has danced solo roles in, Michael Pinks production of the Hunchback of Notre Dame. Anna Marie Holmes staging of Le Corsaire, Paquita, Raymonda, The Sleeping Beauty(Fairy of the Golden Vine), The Nutcracker(Arabian and Spanish), Don Quixote , (Lead Fandango, Shawl Dance), Swan Lake, (Big Swans, Spanish, Lead Czardas). She danced solo roles in Rudi van Danzigs productions of Romeo and Juliet(Harlots) and Ginestera. Her Balanchine solo opportunities include, Divertimento No.15, Cappricio for Piano and Orchestra, Who Cares?. She was chosen by Twyla Tharp to dance in In the Upper Room and Waterbaby Bagatelles .
Ms. Lambe Holland has taught and choreographed pieces for the Boston Ballet Center for Dance Educations young Dancers Summer Workshop, and the Charles River Ballet Academy since 2000.She has recently guest taught for the Walnut Hill School for the Performing Arts
