John Ling
EditJohn Wey Ling began his training at the age of eight in the Shanghai Ballet School. He quickly moved up the ranks to become the number one Principal Dancer for the famed Shanghai Ballet Company. Upon defecting to the United States in 1982 he joined the American Ballet Theatre under the direction of Mikhail Baryshnikov. Mr. Ling has appeared as a Guest Artist with the National Ballet of Canada, the Hong Kong Ballet Company, the Fort Worth City Ballet and the Dallas Ballet Company. He was a prize winner at the World Ballet Competitions in Japan, was invited
to dance at the Place Des Arts in Montreal, Canada and at the world renowned Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival. He has danced the lead rolls in all the major classical ballets. In addition, Mr. Ling has not only staged many of the classics but has given Master Classes all over the world.
